Didn't even realize this until moments ago, but I purchased this car exactly two years after my MA State Police SSP. Maybe December 18th is a lucky day for me?
This is a 1986 Florida Highway Patrol car, unit currently unknown. As you can see, it is a full-blown out drag car.

Here is the story behind this FHP...
It left auction with the trooper assigned to it who had also retired. It was immediately brought to a Mustang customization shop in Florida. At Mustang Specialties (this car has a serial plaque as the first car they ever did), they did complete Aero swap except quarter panel window, which they filled the 86 ones, complete suspension upgrade, Tokiko shocks and struts, rear sway bar, Enkei wheels, rear seat delete, Gt40 crate engine, Centerforce clutch, subframe connectors, BBK headers and full performance exhaust, trunk spoiler, cage, Chevrolet Maroon Paint, neoprene front swaybar bushings, aluminum radiator, 3.55 posi rear, and an AOD transmission. It then went to NY shortly after (not sure if it was still owned by the trooper or if it was sold to someone else) and eventually ended up at an impound lot in 2008.
The seller up here in ME got wind of the car and made the trip out to purchase it. When the seller purchased it in NY, this is how it was. Aluminum radiator gone, aluminum heads gone, motor rusted and locked up, all hubcaps gone, body components rusty, exhaust rusted off, brake lines gone, and calipers were locked up. He left the black interior in it but converted everything but the seats back to an '86. It now has a different color nose on it because of this. Many body panels were replaced, but when he took the doors and trunk lid off, he kept them. They had too much surface rust on it for him, but I'm glad he didn't chuck them. They literally only have surface rust on them. I'll be fixing and using them, putting them back on the car. All the stickers and such are still on the door and the whole in the deck lid is still there. Since purchasing it, he took all of the drag stuff out and built it up himself.
He removed entire suspension and put a full maximum Motorsports tubular K member kit with bump steer adjusters and dropped sway bar, coil overs, front and rear in the car. He removed the remains of the engine and installed 351 Efi, Eagle rods and balanced crank, Ported Dart II heads, Roller Rockers, Roller cam, 670 lift, Victor EFI upper and lower, 90mm throttle plate, 42lb injectors, full Aeromotive fuel sytstem and regulator, 8N Lines, Twin Walbro 255 pumps, sumped tank, 150 horse Nitrous kit, unplumbed, no bottle. Fiberglass 4 inch cowl hood, and fiberglass trunk lid, 4 inch Weld Drag lites in front and ten inch Weld Drag Lites Rear, Mickey Thompson Street Sportsman tires, 325-55-r15 4 lug wheels. Transmission is a TKO 600 with pro 5.o Shifter and Centerforce clutch. Exhaust is KOOKS 1" 7/8 Primary headers, with full 3.5 Inch exhaust out the back. All new brakes and lines.
This is how it is now, but not for long! It will be going back to as close to 100% stock as I can get it. Be on the lookout for progress VERY soon!!!
